About

The host should always be ready. The guest should never arrive empty-handed.

That's the idea behind Ginga, a hosting shop in the heart of Campo de Ourique, Lisbon. We opened our doors in September 2026 with one simple mission: to make setting the table part of the fun, whether you're planning a dinner party or looking for something beautiful to bring when you're the one invited.

Ginga was founded by Glaucia Machado and Raquel Souza, two neighbors who decided to bring their worlds together. Glaucia comes from food and gastronomy. Raquel is the founder of Valsa, a Portuguese brand of hand-painted ceramics launched in 2023. When Raquel found the space, we realized it could be much more than a home for one brand. So we joined forces.

What you'll find

On one side, everything for the table: Valsa's hand-painted ceramics, made in Portugal and designed to be mixed rather than matched, alongside glassware, serving platters, butter dishes, salt cellars and the kind of objects that are useful and conversation starters at the same time. On the other side, a pantry full of sauces, pasta, olives, tinned fish, olive oils, wines and drinks from Portugal, France, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Latvia and the United States. Add cookbooks, candles and flowers, and your table is set.

We also make our own. Ginga Originals is our own-label collection, created to fill the gaps we kept noticing, from our extra-long taper candles to our fish lemon squeezer.

Our one rule

We've tasted everything on our shelves. It has to look good, and it has to taste good. If a pretty package doesn't deliver on flavor, it doesn't make the cut.

Come say hi

The store is designed to be explored. Upstairs is bright and white, so the products can shine. Then head downstairs, where everything is painted yellow, Ginga's signature color. It's the part that surprises everyone.

Nothing here is sorted by category. Instead, we put together things that belong together: a pasta next to the sauce we paired it with, a breakfast corner with cups, tea and egg cups. Mixed up, but always with a reason.
